The University of Southampton is a research intensive university and a founding member of the Russell Group of elite British universities. Consistently recognised as one of the leading research universities in the UK, Southampton achieves high scores for its teaching and learning activities and is ranked in the top 100 universities in the world. The University has a diverse community of over 24,800 students and a worldwide network of 245,000 alumni. 

As a multi-campus university, the main campus is located in the Highfield area of Southampton, supplemented by five other campuses within the city.  In addition, the University operates the School of Art in nearby Winchester and an international campus in Malaysia offering courses such as Engineering, Business and Economics.

    • The Widening Participation and Social Mobility Team at University of Southampton work with schools, colleges and the community, to encourage learners to consider progression to higher education generally and to the University of Southampton specifically. 
    • This occurs through a range of on and off-campus activities, including Campus Tours, Open Days, taster events, and Easter and Summer School residentials. 
    • Team members also carry out visits to schools and colleges each year, attending careers and higher education fairs, and delivering presentations to thousands of prospective students on higher education and the University of Southampton itself.
