This presentation complements the booklet and information sheets provided for strand one.
It has been designed to support the professional development of teachers and advisers and should form a part of peer-to-peer training and be delivered by a teacher or adviser.
This presentation will help teachers and advisers who support students deciding what to study at university and where.
In addition to providing essential information, this presentation contains a series of optional activities to encourage colleagues to engage in discussion and share their ideas and experiences of best practice.

Discover Uni has replaced the Unistats website and enables users to compare UK higher education course data. It includes key information from official sources, including details of student satisfaction scores and specific information on graduate jobs and salaries.
Finding Work Experience in the NHS: a guide for teachers and advisers
Health Education England has produced a toolkit for schools, colleges and further education institutions as part of its widening participation programme. This explains how the NHS works, provides information and practical tips for setting up a placement and gives examples of good practice.
Guardian University Guide
The Guardian publishes complete university league tables for every subject, with information on how to use the tables.
Informed Choices: subject choices at school and college
Informed Choices is produced by the Russell Group. Students can choose a degree subject they are interested in to see suggestions for suitable A level subject choices. Alternatively, they may experiment with different subject choice combinations to see which degree choices this would open up to them.
National Careers Service
The National Careers Service is provided by the UK Government. Their website includes a large collection of job profiles and in each case users can see which qualifications are necessary for particular roles. The service can also be used by those who are looking to speak with a careers adviser.
Open Days
UCAS has an events page where students can search for upcoming open days at different universities.
Prospects
Prospects offers useful information on career pathways, including job profiles detailing typical salaries and the qualifications and skills required by role type. There is a section on careers relevant to different degrees and a career planner and quiz.
Russell Group
The Russell Group represents 24 leading UK universities that are committed to conducting the very best research and to providing an outstanding teaching and learning experience. These universities also offer unrivalled links with business and the public sector.
Sutton Trust
The Sutton Trust is a 'do tank' that conducts research and advocates policy change. It also manages, develops and evaluates programmes to address educational inequality, including summer schools for teachers and Pathways university access programmes.
UCAS Deadlines
This is an important part of the UCAS website that lists the key dates of the admissions cycle.
Whatuni
Whatuni allows students to compare data and read reviews on thousands of different higher education courses.
