Some young people face greater barriers than others in accessing higher education (especially more competitive universities and courses) – this is what we mean by “disadvantage”. In this module, we will look at the multiple factors behind disadvantage, and the various measures which attempt to quantify it. We explore what disadvantage can look like in practice, and the strategies which can be used to support those young people who have the greatest challenges to overcome.
